Happy New Year!!!!!!
Welcome to the first blog of the decade, hope you all had a great break and have enjoyed your first lessons back this week.
Have you all made New Year resolutions? Or, decided to loose weight, get fitter, be healthier?
Most people do….. most people fail.
To me, everything is about balance and enjoying everything in moderation. I’ve never fully cut out anything I enjoy, fat, carbs, sugar, meat or anything I enjoy.
I believe the only reason to cut anything out fully is due to allergies or intolerance (or religious/personal ethical reasons of course).
If you’ve decided to cut something out for all of January (or longer) make sure it’s for the right reasons. Do research, find out what nutrients you will be missing out on and make sure you replace them.
Don’t just jump on the bandwagon of the latest craze, or because someone you know has lost 3 stone in a month by doing this. Do it for YOUR reasons, do it for the right reason!!!! What are you going to do after January? Do you carry on or, go back to what you did in 2019 that didn’t work for you?
If you loose weight in January but then go back to your old ways you are likely to put it all back on.
Has the all or nothing approach worked in the past or not? If not, why repeat it.
Look and plan for a long term strategy. Make changes that you can stick to and can last a lifetime. Look at these 2 simple points and work a plan around these:-
- Find a form of exercise you enjoy.
- Understand energy balance/ calorie deficit. Know roughly how many calories you are consuming and how many calories you are burning.
That’s my thoughts on how to balance fitness/ weight loss with fun and not depriving yourself of what you enjoy….you’re far more likely to stick to it and achieve your goals, whatever they may be.
At the academy we were back to training last week and what a great week it was. Busy, great lessons full of energy and enthusiasm. There was a great atmosphere so kets keep this up.
Unlimited training for all of January and every time you train you get a free raffle ticket and a chance to win a prize. Some great prizes won already (cash / 6 months free tuition) with loads still to win!!!!
Fitness bootcamp starts this week – can’t wait & eliminators are coming up on 11th February.
See you all in this week.
